Setting up in Norway. Our step-by-step establishment service

Book a consultation
Most foreign companies we meet have a project, a contract or a client in Norway – and a start date that is closer than they would like. Our establishment service gets you ready to operate, in the right order.

Step 1: Choose the right structure
We help you decide between a Norwegian branch (NUF) and a Norwegian limited company (AS). The choice affects liability, reporting and how you are seen by Norwegian clients.

Step 2: Registration in the Brønnøysund Register Centre
We prepare the registration form, check your documents and register Apex Regnskap as your accountant. If you need a Norwegian business address, you can use ours.

Step 3: KYC
As an authorised accounting firm we must verify who owns and controls the business. We ask for company documents and contact details for the owners. This is required by Norwegian law and must be completed before we can start.

Step 4: VAT registration
Most businesses with activity in Norway must register for VAT. VAT registration is also needed before your workers can get HSE cards.

Step 5: Employees – D-number, tax card and ID check
Every foreign worker needs a Norwegian ID number and a tax deduction card. We help book the appointment with the Norwegian Tax Administration and tell your employees what to bring.

Step 6: Employment contracts
Your contracts must meet Norwegian requirements. We can introduce you to a Norwegian lawyer we work with, or you can use your own.

Step 7: HSE cards and site reporting
For construction and cleaning work, every worker needs an HSE card. We order the cards and report your workers to the Assignment and Employee Register.

Step 8: Bank account and BankID
You need a Norwegian business account, and key people usually need BankID to sign and log in. We can introduce you to a bank used to foreign clients.

Step 9: Accounting system
We set up your accounting system, connect it to your bank and Altinn, and agree who approves payments. We normally only have read access to your bank – you stay in control of your money.

Step 10: Ongoing operation
Bookkeeping, payroll, VAT returns, the monthly a-melding, annual accounts and the tax return. We also handle onboarding and offboarding of employees.
